Cambridge Influence on Surrounding Areas
The increased pressure on space in Cambridge has had a beneficial effect on surrounding areas with towns such as Ely, Newmarket and Huntingdon attracting strong interest. The Cambridgeshire Business Park at Ely has particularly benefited, with the recent announcement that Coherent UK Limited will be moving to Ely from the Cambridge Science Park. Redmayne Arnold & Harris, joint agents on the scheme report that a further 28,000 sq.ft. project is also close to signature. This follows the recent completion of building works on the new HQ for Melrose Press on the Park.
A similar scenario also exists with the light industrial market. Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. have taken advantage of the increased development activity around Cambridge by agreeing terms to occupy a 20,000 sq.ft new build industrial/office development on the Buckingway Business Park at the Swavesey interchange of the A14. Redmayne Arnold & Harris acted in finding a suitable building to satisfy their expansion requirements from existing premises at Button End, Harston.
